So at the final of the CPL! what makes that difference…

does the best team always win… https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=237&v=5DGlNlQ_P3E

“all-round performance outstanding means nothing in the finals…”

now, why would a renowned sportsman like Brian Charles Lara make such a comment…hmmm…

so can Trinbago Knight Ridershttps://wired868.com/2018/09/16/cpl-18-trinis-to-throng-tarouba-to-see-triumphant-tkr-trounce-warriors/

We live in a global village, a multicultural society. Is it not interesting then that while we recognize more than a colour for other racial and ethnic groups we retain the idea of ‘blacks’ for persons of African Heritage and ‘whites’ for persons of European Heritage. What is the social impact? Is it that All “Blacks” Are “Oreos”?

So we’ve reached the Playoffs of the Caribbean Premier League 2018https://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-series/2717/caribbean-premier-league-2018/matches

Is it any surprise to have the Trinbago Knight Riders reach this far?

when they have a Champion Chanting Captain… what does that teach about this team’s #carryon…

first, let’s listen to the lyrics…this captain respects his opponents as worthy and champions in their own right, without excluding himself…. we expect then that he would inspire this same sort of #sportsmanship within his colleagues of TKR and also appreciate that victory is about bringing your best game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y963o_1q71M from who is part of the team, to the line up for every match…

though some have wondered about whether there are times when the lineup choices were wanting …  https://wired868.com/2018/09/12/cpl-18-a-6-for-a-9-how-amazon-warriors-left-dj-bravos-tkr-no-more-margin-for-error/

and well if that be the case, guess which team is sure to tackle that?

Firstly, with a name such as Guyana Amazon Warriors could we expect anything but this team is a team to contend with… what’s in a name…oh just the blueprint and well in this teams case the teal-print of how the team thinks about itself…

but that’s not all…any team coming up against the Guyana Amazon Warriors must understand the psychological power of the #carryon in a team that has often been ‘the bridesmaid but never this bride’ this team already with their teal print warrior spirit have that boosted determination to go where they have never gone before…https://wired868.com/2018/09/11/guyanas-warriors-triumph-again-tkr-face-eliminator-on-friday-after-dramatic-loss-in-providence/

Maybe this team is going to give this Champion Chanting Captian some new lyrics for version two…

Making a ‘come-back’ of any kind big or small is no tiny feat!

Now add to this, being on the field and feeling wronged, we are human as we play our sport and in the game of life!

so we pause! and choose between the 2 s’s

SILENCE!

SPEAK! then like Serena we choose to #speakup and #speakout after all what could be so off? so wrong ? with a simple respectful expression…https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/09/us/serena-williams-sexism-tennis-controversy/index.html

in the game of tennis, as in the game of life, we have persons holding positions, be then the referee, the umpire, or any other authority figure… and they can after we choose ‘s’ for #speak make decisions to test our #carryon in a very real way…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRa8kp_1zvI but as Serena showed #sportsmanship, so too in the game of life we can display good sportsmanship while continuing to choose when to speak and when to remain silenthttps://www.news.com.au/sport/tennis/naomi-osaka-on-serena-williams-match-i-felt-like-i-had-to-apologise/news-story/b58961f900a731e870a34da5a6b5d1d3

and the thing is … just as Serena would have had upcoming victor Naomi OSAKA looking on at her Serena’s behaviour, in the same way, others look on, as to how we deal with attempts by others to “cut us off” “reducing chances of us winning or achieving a ‘win’ ”

Sometimes people grow up experiencing extreme abuse and or neglect…

Eventually, these persons grow up with an “emptiness in the pit of their stomachs” feeling unlovable, unworthy, and so wanting to be loved, that they become whoever their partner desires…

The thing with this is for these persons, there is no love within, only the love from without, their partners and sometimes children that make life seem worth living…

and so the feeling if ever there is even a mild conflict, is that life is no longer worth living…

and if ever a partner does anything to threaten the relationship, these persons seek the ultimate way for their partner to prove their love…

They declare “if you leave me I will kill myself” … the idea is for the partner to prove their love for them, by staying with them, be saving their life literally…

At times if the relationship really shows no chance, these persons adopt an approach of “I will kill me to hurt you!” …

#mentalhealthchallenges need more than a partner who is manipulated … often the issue is a lack of #selflove #selfworth and finding a reason for life beyond or in addition to their main #realtionship…

It’s #WorldSuicidePreventionDay!

How does worry pay?

It pretends to pay…by making us think that “worry has power” to stop what we are worrying about from happening, or by keeping us alert…

but we must resist this type of thinking…

what I’m saying is true… what worry does is exhaust our energies, confuse our mind, so we can hardly think clearly and come up with ideas to deal with whatever the problem, concern or trouble might be…

so Never ever worry…

always consider it could actually be worse… in other words, the glass is half full, or at least there is a glass or a cup, or you know where to get a bottle (get the point)

and sometimes we do forget…and that’s when a good dose of self-talk works…

but more than self-talk is when we can get a tune, to sing it to ourselves, over and over, and so change not only our thinking, but create a good feeling…freeing up our mind to think things through…

so enjoy the music!

Sometimes you simply gotta shake your bodyline…

now let’s blend the music with the mind here…

Musically we had Trinbago songster Ola represent the Caribbean at X Factor UK… now how did he reach there if he himself did not “shake his bodyline”

Mentally our “bodyline” is an imaginary line

that we sometimes draw… limiting where our body goes and what it does, might be in sports, some skill, going to a new place, a new job, or position at work, even a new sort of relationship…

but how could we experience the glory if we never …

SHAKE OUR BODYLINE!

We all want our children to sing a song sounding like this, don’t we?

Yet the thing is that many of us parents miss the red flags!

it is easy to get so bogged down, working hard to make sure our children have all the needed products that we forget that that is really only the beginning… and that there

MUST be an activating activity or activities that prepare the child to benefit from wherever they might find themselves,

so as children head back out to school, what activities have we had with them to prepare them to get ready… have we asked how school is going from the child’s point of view? have we helped that child to understand what is required of them? have we considered some of the things that need to be dealt with that might distract them from benefiting from what they need to be doing in school?

otherwise like in this video we only get a half-way result!

So once calypso, canada and netball comes together it takes me back way way back…

As a Sports Talking Therapist, some sports are definitely more familiar than others…

#netball well that there ‘is my game’ …

what is it about netball that is so great and can give us a good #carryon reminder;

  1. Unlike basketball, once the player catches that ball, then its …..

stop… look around…think fast…make the best choice

and that there is a great approach in the game of life… our ball can be anything…

  1. Once the player moves with that ball the whistle goes…

and often so it is…when we do not take a timeout, no matter how quick, to get a grasp of what is happening, and then making the best choice, well sometimes life finds a way to ‘blow that whistle’

  1. Another great approach is the PIVOT…

sometimes let’s face it we are heading in one direction but realize we need to adjust our position to get to the source/contact/resource that we need to … well in netball, we remain on that foot on which we landed, then take that other foot and use it to pivot and change our course

what a great #carryon reminder that sometimes all we need to do is remain right where we are, using all we have and then work at making a little change

well for sure  these Calypso girls have performed as well as they have by mastering these netball basics and so much more… Kudos to the Calypso Girls https://newsday.co.tt/2018/08/28/calypso-girls-stop-canada-80-26-for-2nd-victory/

Movies like Music reflect life and our society. And our music comes out of our society. So when it comes to looking at our music videos and thinking that they….

Keep Endorsing Social Stereotypes

It becomes a case of which comes first…the chicken or the egg? If certain types of interactions happen in life, then does the music really endorse it or is it that musicians get their inspiration from life and then the music videos….

Keep Exercising Social Scenes

so the music videos simply think about some common social scenes and then choose one or a few to feature as their music video… but even so when it comes to our mental health and in this case especially managing our self esteem by ensuring we are always those who the music video can…

Keep Encouraging  Some Self-esteem

within. How do we do that? By simply accepting that;

  • social stereotypes exist
  • music videos do us the favor of reminding us of that (sometimes we might appreciate it and sometimes not)
  • it is always our response-ability to make a choice in how we would deal with social stereotypes
  • we have a choice to keep positive self-talk that encourages self-esteem

So all music videos cannot out-rightly directly or indirectly give us a self-esteem boost, sometimes if we view them carelessly our self-esteem could take a hit, but if we consider the 4 tips…that we can be sure to be the some who music videos…

Keep Encouraging Some Self-esteem within  …
