Moving you forward one step at a time

KarryOn On Saturday Selections… Music for All Seasons.. Flood and All

Sometimes the message is clear; he or she is showing clearly for one reason or the other they don’t have the heart to love in a real way…and so they do things to sabotage, they run, they turn away do things to push away…and we remain there asking “why do you keep doing this?” or “what am I doing wrong?” when truth be told is that for one reason of the other the person is incapable of loving anyone in a real way (probably just for this time) but sometimes for some its for a very very long time… and then we might even want to tell the person ‘hush’ as we work harder and harder and harder thinking we have the ‘magic’ needed to bring love out of them… but trust James and hear him as his haunting message would live on forever as true in some situations

Thought of what to right to introduce this video but then saw this https://www.inc.com/justin-bariso/ubers-new-ceo-just-sent-an-amazing-email-to-employees-taught-a-major-lesson-in-emotional-intelligence.html There are lots of things daily that can set our emotional energy outward in a way we might regret later and sometimes there is a lot of emotional energy pent up from having to deal with a tough situation, that’s why today we give thanks for our music;

Music by its very nature appreciates the journey…music has a starting point, a build, a steady beat, usually some climatic catchy break, a chorus, and an eventual close…

so we have Ola completing his journey in the finals of the X Factor…

The disappointment was obvious and understandable but Ola! Ola! …

Music is a journey and soca has made some great strides here… +

Often Little (what we consider as little) Advances

OFFERS Leverage Another …

time (so this is where the music has reached for now) like the waters flowing it has moved and would continue to make its movements…so let’s #Jiggle It #Jiggle It!

and work the musical mindset…focus on the journey…for now getting out of the X factor is simply like a musical bridge with lots more music to come

#Jiggle It #Jiggle It

How does worry pay?

It pretends to pay…by making us think that “worry has power” to stop what we are worrying about from happening, or by keeping us alert…

but we must resist this type of thinking…

what I’m saying is true… what worry does is exhaust our energies, confuse our mind, so we can hardly think clearly and come up with ideas to deal with whatever the problem, concern or trouble might be…

so Never ever worry…

always consider it could actually be worse… in other words, the glass is half full, or at least there is a glass or a cup, or you know where to get a bottle (get the point)

and sometimes we do forget…and that’s when a good dose of self-talk works…

but more than self-talk is when we can get a tune, to sing it to ourselves, over and over, and so change not only our thinking, but create a good feeling…freeing up our mind to think things through…

so enjoy the music!

Sometimes you simply gotta shake your bodyline…

now let’s blend the music with the mind here…

Musically we had Trinbago songster Ola represent the Caribbean at X Factor UK… now how did he reach there if he himself did not “shake his bodyline”

Mentally our “bodyline” is an imaginary line

that we sometimes draw… limiting where our body goes and what it does, might be in sports, some skill, going to a new place, a new job, or position at work, even a new sort of relationship…

but how could we experience the glory if we never …

SHAKE OUR BODYLINE!

Movies like Music reflect life and our society. And our music comes out of our society. So when it comes to looking at our music videos and thinking that they….

Keep Endorsing Social Stereotypes

It becomes a case of which comes first…the chicken or the egg? If certain types of interactions happen in life, then does the music really endorse it or is it that musicians get their inspiration from life and then the music videos….

Keep Exercising Social Scenes

so the music videos simply think about some common social scenes and then choose one or a few to feature as their music video… but even so when it comes to our mental health and in this case especially managing our self esteem by ensuring we are always those who the music video can…

Keep Encouraging  Some Self-esteem

within. How do we do that? By simply accepting that;

  • social stereotypes exist
  • music videos do us the favor of reminding us of that (sometimes we might appreciate it and sometimes not)
  • it is always our response-ability to make a choice in how we would deal with social stereotypes
  • we have a choice to keep positive self-talk that encourages self-esteem

So all music videos cannot out-rightly directly or indirectly give us a self-esteem boost, sometimes if we view them carelessly our self-esteem could take a hit, but if we consider the 4 tips…that we can be sure to be the some who music videos…

Keep Encouraging Some Self-esteem within  …

Hello! (you heard) Hello! (you heard) Hello! (you heard)

… now, what is that one thing that sports and music have in common…

both sports and music allow people to access and express aggression in a form that neither hurts the person or others…

and why is this essential to mental health…

first things first … we all feel aggressive impulses …children..man..woman…

second things second… at some point each and every one of us would feel like giving in to our aggressive impulses

third things third… anger is a legit emotion that informs us of what is happening and helps us to make better decisions in the future if or when used well…

but too many confuse aggression with violence… and aggressive impulses in no way equal violence… in fact, it is not being in tune with when these impulses are present and not having the place/space/skills to express these impulses that lands us in trouble…

so how does music & mental health come in here…

music is one of those readily available means of …

  1. expressing and externalizing our aggressive impulses in a healthy wayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErCAOMi5EGM
  2. making us move and so change our body chemistry and eventually feel better and be able to think clearer…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83ZioYr7DiM

so make good use of music as need be and master mental health

So its Sunday and this is not an Ave Maria! after Dominica experience with Hurricane Maria and yet there is something soothing and calming refreshing and revigorating and comforting as Kris B looks around notices what is happening but can still sing but “My Country still Nice!” and while it is a song coming out of Dominica … where ever we might be its so easy

to relate….
