Depressing Divali?

A popular festival in Hinduism, Diwali/Divali symbolizes “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

The festival usually involves cleaning of homes and lighting deyas  in preparation for the blessings of  wealth and prosperity

So it is easy to become depressed … as a Hindu hit by flash flooding looks around and ironically notices less material possessions due to the destruction from flash flooding

The Hindu Devotee can easily long for their old belongings that made up part of their wealth/possessions in the past before the floods came  …

Time for a Divali Deep Dive

It is then that that Hindu devotee would need to really think deeply about what Divali represents and swim through depressing thoughts and dive into a … new mindset more in keeping with what Divali symbolizes

On Divali Hindus have a focus on the confidence that there is a spiritual Universe energy that would ensure…



Flash flooding brought dark times and it could easily be experienced as a sort of environmental evil with such devastating destruction

But even for the Hindu devotee who looks an observes their lost possessions… as the deyas are lit, or thoughts of how they would have …

cleaned up as best as they good…they could notice how much more room and space there is for new possessions…new wealth and future prosperity

and a calm can come about even as it is difficult rebuilding after the flash flooding, because of the confidence the Hindu devotee would have especially it being Divali, that things would get better as

light overcomes darkness

goodness overcomes evil


Clay Deyas…hint hint

deyas are a part of the Hindu festival …guess what deyas are made from = clay. … guess where the clay comes from = no not Mother Laskhmi but Mother Earth

All Mothers worthy of honour…

Maybe as the Hindus on this Divali celebrate and invite Mother Lasskmi for blessings of wealth and prosperity another Mother would come to mind since the floods would have made it obvious that this mother, Mother Earth also impacts our belongings and possessions… and so many Hindus might also become

what, why, where, do we go around thinking that life is all ‘fun and games’ for all our children and upcoming youth…well the info is there before 14 half of mental health concerns show up…

Let us add by around age 7, the personality is formed and fairly stable…

So let’s take it back to basics

Musical Mindset…

  • “tell everybody I reach, I coming inside right now!” … far too often as adults we might not take the time to appreciate just how much children ‘suck up’ the emotional climate of their environment and so we continue on with the conflicts, or whatever is happening…but when that child reaches, the child needs ’emotional safety and calm’ and if the environment is not ready to offer that, well the child literally ‘suffers’ through it but sooner or later the distress would show
  • Back to Basics … one of the biggest safeguards for children and youth is to feel good to say ” I am …. ….” and that comes when we from very early help in developing that pride in how they look, accepting all their thoughts and feelings as important and disciplining always in loving calmness
  • Back to Basics… our children come into a very competitive World but before they can get to that and deal well with it, they need our support through connection to bring forward their creativity that would point out their unique skills and talents
  • Back to BASICS… really take in the video… our objective is to basically keep children for the main part happy… not happy as in spoilt…but happy as in finding awe interest wonder and pleasantness as the learn and experience life
  •  Back to BASICS… “way before Facebook could post it…” far too many of our children are crying out for attention and connection on the social media… way before Facebook, there was family-time, chats with children by allowing them to feel free to approach us the adults

Our Mindset decides how we think about challenges and change…

Growth Mindset…..“A mistake is valuable if you do four things with it: recognize it, admit it, learn from it, forget it.” ― John Wooden 

That is easy because the growth mindset views qualities as always in process with the potential for improvement, so mistakes are not failures but opportunities to do better

Fixed Mindset… some are bright/some are dumb, you are either good at it or not, protect people’s perceptions of your talents/gifts…

The fixed mindset puts us under constant stress, especially with how quickly information is shared now, we are always protecting our turf, even when or if …1) it is not necessary or 2) protecting our turf means denying ourselves a future bigger benefit

We become obsessed with getting it right, over getting better and better…

Great news!  We can Fix Our Life…by learning how to work in the growth mindset where we appreciate that we are all a work in progress and so we need not be afraid to suck! 

Dear Positive Psychology People, Whatsoever we believe as true becomes true. One main difference between those of us who CHOOSE daily 👣 to have our positive psychology turned on and those who do not…is the idea of getting ahead in life….. Who or what can truly stop us from getting ahead in life? Okay so some say my parents, others say the government, some say circumstances….but guess what the one thing that prevents us from getting ahead in life is OUR 👿💭 thoughts…Yes people can but obstacles…Yes we all have different life circumstances and some of us have come into tough circumstances…Yes people can be out to “get” us…yet it is for us to increase or decrease what is presented….and when we are blocked or feel blocked we can sit and have a PIT😢 Part😭 or we can accept that it is what it is and pull out our Positive Psychology…
